Handwritten caption by Carlos Roman Yznaga on verso: "I am John, and the little fellow is Felix. I believe that when you saw me I had curly and long hair, and brother Felix had not arrived yet. Now I love the carpenter shop, provided for me by your old pupil. Although born on the 20th of June 1896, I now weigh 142 pounds, two more than father, and am nearly as tall as he. These proportions makes him prophecy [sic] that I will play foot-ball when I go to school in the U.S. Our love to you, Miss Fanny & Miss Lucy. John."
